Van Amersfoortsch Beijersch tot Phoenix Brouwerij - ISBN 9789464374797

On the 7 october 2022 in Hoogland near Amersfoort I visited the presentation of the book "Van Amersfoortsch Beijersch tot Phoenix Brouwerij".
It took writer and collector Onno Kleefkens about five years to write this more than complete work. The history of the Amersfoortse Phoenix Brouwerij is, completed with a huge amount of beautifull illustrations, extensively displayed. The story describes how a small Dutch brewery was able to keep alive in the 20th century while other in those days famous Dutch breweries had to close there doors.
During the presentation one of the guestspeakers, beerhistorian Marco Daane, caaled this book a 'stoeptegel' (a paving stone) because of its size and weight. It is quite right to call this book a masterpiece and with its 576 pages a must for a lot of beerlovers and historians.

Because of the fact that the Phoenix brewery merged in 1960 with Oranjeboom, ZHB and Barbarossa there is a streight link with Brewery Barbarossa in Groningen. Therefore I could give some modest input that can be found in the chapters about the fusion.
